About Dawn:

The Person Behind the Partnership

A Lifetime of Listening

Some people learn to understand dogs through books or weekend seminars. For me, it started before I could even read.

Growing up, 'dog-first' communication became my second language. I don’t just see a dog that won't sit or a dog that barks at the mailman; I see the tiny shifts in body language and intent that most people miss. At TrainMIDog, my job is to translate that 'dog sense' into a practical, architectural plan for your household.

No Magic Wands—Just Better Communication

I’ll be the first to tell you: I don’t have a magic wand, and your dog doesn't come with a remote control. What I do have is a lifetime of experience in understanding why dogs do what they do.

My approach is straightforward and focused on the "Real World." We aren't training for a trophy or a high-stakes competition; we’re training so you can enjoy a quiet cup of coffee without your dog clearing the kitchen counter. I work with committed owners who just want a better, calmer life with their four-legged family members.

I am the trainer who gets it. From the 24/7 nature of West Michigan’s manufacturing and hospital lines to the silent needs of an aging guardian—I provide the bridge between canine instinct and human reality, I’m available when your life actually happens - within reason, of course... I still need to sleep and I'm not a "spring chick" anymore.
